When I was 16 my softball coach told our team to stop drinking soft drinks and only drink water, and for some reason I took her suggestion to heart. Ever since then I have become an exclusive (almost) water drinker. Every couple of months I will drink something else, usually juice or lemonade, but to be honest, it’s very rare.

Not only do I exclusively drink just water, but I always carry water with me wherever I go. One day we were at the library when a friend of mine came in with her kids. Her son, who was about 4 or 5 at the time, came running up to me and said, “Mrs. Sara, I told my mom you were here at the library because I saw your water bottle in your van!” I’m pretty sure there was a sea of minivans in the parking lot, but he knew which one was ours because he saw my water bottle inside.

Since I only drink water, I would consider myself to be a bit of a water snob. I like to always take my own filtered water from home with me wherever I go. My water also needs to be ice cold! I have tried several different types of water bottles, but three years ago I discovered Contigo, and nothing else compares.

I love how easy these Contigo cups are to clean. I put the lids in the top rack of the dishwasher, just make sure the mouthpiece is lifted up so that it’ll get clean. The only issue I’ve had with the lids is that with some of our older ones the rubber seal will occasionally fall out during the wash cycle, but we just put it back in. The rubber ring still fits pretty snug, so I’m not sure how it sometimes falls out while in the dishwasher.

The instructions say to hand wash the base, but it will fit in the bottom of the dishwasher without any problems. However I’ve noticed that after awhile the paint will start coming off some of the colored ones, which is probably why they suggest hand washing, but it’s saving me time to just throw them in the dishwasher, so I’m okay with some of the paint coming off.

Our Contigo cups are the best ones I have found for not only keeping my water cold all day, but they also keep the ice from melting. These cups are also spill-proof, which is a necessity when you use them as much as I do. In my three years of using them I can only think of one time that I had a leak issue, so maybe the lid wasn’t on all the way? I’m really not sure, but it hasn’t happened again.

Our Contigo cups fit on the side of our backpacks and in the cup holders of our stroller.

They fit in most of the cup holders in our vehicles as well as our stroller. We also put them on the side of our backpacks and take them with us everywhere we go. Hadassah has a Contigo cup that’s a slightly different style and has a straw. We bought it for her when she was 2, and I wasn’t sure she could figure out how to push the autoseal and drink out of the regular Contigo without getting drenched. The one with the straw has been perfect for her, but she’s now able to drink out of ours if she needs to. Since her cup is smaller she will sometimes run out of water before we do.

Our Contigo cups have been knocked over on concrete, hit by a baseball, and dropped A LOT! Some of them are a little dinged up, but I’ll take functionality – leak-proof and ice-cold water – over looks any day. They do have some really cool designs though. We recently added a faux marble and a woodgrain look to our growing collection.

You can buy these Contigo cups from Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, etc. We bought our first ones from Amazon, but have bought all of our other ones from Kohl’s on Black Friday. Leave us a comment and let us know if you’re a Contigo fan, or if there’s another water bottle that you use and love.
