Ever since my kids were little, they have always enjoyed helping out in the kitchen. Micah has been fixing her own fried eggs since she was five years old and she is always wanting to experiment with new recipes.

Cullan is my little baker, always wanting to make cookies or cakes. While he enjoys baking, I think he really likes decorating the best because that’s where his creativity gets to come through.

When I heard about Raddish Kids, I thought it would be perfect for both Cullan and Micah. We have been trying to limit the amount of physical gifts that our kids receive, in favor of experience gifts, so Raddish Kids seemed like a great fit. Cullan and Micah received a 6-month subscription from their grandparents for Christmas and loved every minute of it. Disclaimer: For this post, we were gifted a box from Raddish Kids, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you’re not familiar with Raddish Kids, it is a monthly subscription box for kids who love to cook or want to learn how to cook. Each month you will receive a new box in the mail that contains beautiful recipe cards, a kitchen tool, an iron-on patch, a creative activity, and a complete grocery list. Each monthly subscription box comes with a different theme, which adds to the element of surprise. I receive an email letting me know that the box has shipped and what the theme is, but I never tell the kids ahead of time. They love getting to open the box and see what’s inside.

In your box, you will find 3 recipe cards for recipes that are perfectly matched to the monthly theme. The box we used for this post was Family Date Night, and the recipes included were: Chicken Parmesan, Garlicky Green Beans, and Family Fondue Fun. The recipe cards include a list of ingredients, a list of tools, and step by step directions.

I love how they’ve included pictures for each of the sections so that both readers and non-readers can easily use the cards. They are also made out of a sturdy cardstock that has been laminated, so no need to worry about them getting ruined or damaged. It’s very easy to wipe them off if needed.

On the back of the recipe card, you will find a lot of information that is both educational and engaging. In the Family Date Night box, the culinary skill listed on the back of the Chicken Parmesan recipe was how to pound meat. This was a skill that neither Micah nor Cullan had ever learned, so it was neat to see them read the card and learn the correct way to pound their chicken breasts.

Do you have dietary restrictions in your family? You can find dietary adaptations for each recipe on the Raddish Kids website including: gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, and egg-free.

Cullan is 10 and Micah is 9, and they can do almost all of the steps on the recipe cards by themselves. I mostly just make sure I’m around to answer any questions and help get things in and out of the oven. I definitely see both of them enjoying this for many years to come.

This month’s kitchen tool was a garlic mincer, and was used to make the Garlicky Green Beans. So far all of our tools have been red, which has been fun for the kids and also helps them be able to quickly distinguish them from my kitchen items. I’ve given them each their own drawer in the kitchen to store their new tools. Whenever I’m fixing dinner and they come in to help, they are always wanting to grab their tools and use them instead of mine.

I have been impressed with how yummy and delicious all of the food has been. My kids have been known to be pretty picky eaters at times, but this month they both gobbled up the Garlicky Green Beans like they were candy.

Raddish Kids boxes are recommended for kids age 4-14+, which I would say is very accurate. Hadassah is 4, and she’s able to help out with some things. If she were my only child, I think it would be a great activity for the two of us to do together. Having older siblings who are independent and want to do it all by themselves makes it a little harder to incorporate a 4-year-old.

One of Micah’s favorite things to do is set a beautiful table for our meals. She loves getting out our fancy dishes, and adding special touches such as place card holders, or candles. Raddish Kids doesn’t provide fancy dishes, but they do put together a themed Spotify playlist which is so much fun in helping to set the mood. You can find the playlists on the Raddish Kids website.

The table talk cards are so much fun. The kids love being in charge of facilitating the conversation at the dinner table and making sure that each person has a chance to chime in and answer the question. We have all learned so much about each other by listening to each others answers. As a homeschool mom, I’m around my kids 24/7, so sometimes by the time dinner rolls around, I’m tired of talking, and just want to relax, so these cards are an easy way for the kids to take charge and it really helps the conversation start to flow naturally.

The creative kitchen project for this kit was the cutout dice that went with the game instructions that were provided. The fun game suggestions helped to make the whole evening a fun and enjoyable family night.

As a mom, I have found the shopping list to be one of the most invaluable parts of the monthly kit. Having all of the ingredients listed in one spot makes it so easy to just grab the list and sit down at the laptop to add all of the ingredients to my online grocery order.

So you might be thinking, this sounds really neat, and I have multiple kids that would enjoy this, do I need to order a subscription for each of them? Nope. Raddish Kids has thought of everything! For just $5 a month you can add an additional kitchen tool and patch to your order. Adding the sibling package has been perfect for us. The 6 and 12-month subscription packages come with a free apron (to put all the cute patches on) and for $15 you can add an extra apron for a sibling as well.

Don’t forget to check out the Raddish Kids website each month. There is a wealth of information that you do not want to overlook. In the Bonus Bites section of the website you will find fun games and activities such as grocery store scavenger hunts that line up with the monthly theme. If you want to add an educational component, then be sure to check out the free homeschool lesson plans, which include links to supplemental books that you could get from your library as well as YouTube videos, vocabulary words, and various other activities. Some of my favorite ones are the country-themed ones.

Looking for a little something to tide your kids over until their next box arrives in the mail? You can always find lots of great additional recipes in the Bonus Bites section of the Raddish Kids website too.
